The short answer is yes, but it depends. No matter what time of year you’re using your PolyDock, though, you can trust that you’ll have the best possible protection for your watercraft.
PolyDock makes floating docks and ports that are modular and built to go places and last through conditions that other docks can’t. Our systems have quality materials, construction, and aesthetics that can complete any shoreline and last for years of waterfront enjoyment. Most of our systems require very little maintenance and no special care—wash with soap and water and tighten the connectors and anchorage regularly, and you’ll get years of stress-free use out of your dock. Great for a variety of applications, both commercial and residential, and designed to accommodate nearly any watercraft, PolyDock products will help keep your boat safe no matter what the weather throws at you.
And luckily for you seasonal dock owners, PolyDock sections aren’t affected by ice and cold temperatures. As long as you haven’t let snow accumulate on the dock and you haven’t left a lot of things stored on the dock before the freeze sets in, the sections shouldn’t draft a bunch of water because any ice pressure forces the dock up and not in, at this point, which means it won’t be harmed. However, if your water is affected by ice pressure ridges or ice movement, we recommend removing pipes or pilings to keep them from getting damaged by pressure and movement. Assuming you’ve removed them, tie your dock system to something sturdy on the shore, but leave slack in the line for some movement.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of variables that go into winter weather conditions and that your area might be different from others based on individual weather patterns and water conditions. We can't offer truly universal advice on avoiding damage to your PolyDock from freezing conditions. Use your best judgment when it comes to deciding whether or not to remove your dock.
