What Are The Best Floating Docks In New Jersey?

Okay, so we’re a little bit biased toward the PolyDock floating docks, not only because they look great, seriously, they look GREAT, just look through the this gallery of Poly Dock floating docks shot recently throughout South Jersey (Mays Landing, Atlantic City, Ocean City, Ventor, Margate City, and beyond) and tell us what plastic floating dock looks better?

All floating docks have to float, right? You probably need to be able to tie, or moor a boat or jetski along the side of the floating dock too, right? Your floating dock should also be able to be anchored in a way that allows it to adjust to changing water levels and also remain in place in front of your property, right? All floating docks need to offer or be able to accommodate some sort of transition between the shore and the dock, or the dock and another dock or structure in the form of a ramp or gangway, right? All floating docks need to be able to accomplish these things because they are the base expectation that is required for a floating dock, these things are pretty much the price of admission. PolyDock floating dock systems and ShorePort jetski ports from PolyDock products do all of these things incredibly well, probably even better than most of the other floating dock brands out there.

There are a lot of things that floating docks don’t necessarily need to be. For instance; A floating dock doesn’t NEED to look nice, or or have a premium feel and texture, look, at least it floats! A floating dock technically doesn’t HAVE to be incredibly stable, some dock designs just can’t achieve good stability, but hey, you can tie your boat along side it, right? A floating dock doesn’t NEED to be easy to own or maintain, just as long as it’s accomplishing its job of remaining in place in front of your property with your boat tied alongside it, right?

The point here is that there are things that a floating dock system MUST be, and then there are things that, at least we think, a floating dock SHOULD be. When you search floating dock systems for your South Jersey waterfront property, house at the shore, marina, restaurant, or lake place, you will find a lot of dock systems that only offer you the basic requirements of a floating dock. We know you want more than that, you want your South Jersey floating dock system to look good, actually, good isn’t good enough, you want your dock to be the best looking dock at the shore, you want your dock to be incredibly stable and feel like a premium system when you walk on it, you want your dock to take up as little of your time as possible for maintenance and repairs. You want the best floating dock in New Jersey. All you need is a PolyDock floating dock system.

Now, about that gallery….

Rock Out With Your Dock Out

Let us introduce you to a great company that has found a way to give back to their customers, and the residents of the Fergus Falls and surrounding lakes area communities, all while showing off the versatility and durability of the dock and lift products that they sell, service, and install in the area.

Dan Johnson, owner of DJ’s Dock Service, an authorized ShoreMaster and PolyDock Products dealer serving the Otter Tail County Lakes Area since 2005, understands how important the dock and lift industry is to the Fergus Falls area economy. After all, a large portion of Dan’s business is the sales of new docks and boat lifts, the maintenance and service of existing docks and lifts, and the seasonal installation and removal of waterfront equipment for the area’s many waterfront property owners. With 1,100 lakes, Otter Tail County is, after all, one of Minnesota’s premier boating and vacationing destinations, and Dan Johnson has found a way to lead the area as a premier waterfront equipment sales and service business with DJ’s Dock Service.

“Rock Out With Your Dock Out”, an on-the-water summer concert series, featuring music from local band Confusion, is one of the most notable ways that DJ’s Dock Service gives back to their customers, and the community. “Rock Out with Your Dock Out is a thank you to our customers that we serve on the lakes. On average we get about 70 boats out on the water enjoying music for the afternoon. We have a lot of fun.” says Dan Johnson, owner of DJ’s Dock Service. The events are held on various lakes throughout Otter Tail County. The four 2015 Rock Out With Your Dock Out event locations were Otter Tail Lake, Lake Lida, and Big Cormorant, with Otter Tail Lake benefiting from two shows. The band Confusion has been the primary headliner of each event. With a clean, upbeat sound and an ability to play a diverse musical set, depending on the audience, Confusion has been able to watch the on-the-water events grow with each show, and they hope to continue playing the events as more and more people discover what it means to “Rock Out With Your Dock Out”.

The “Rock Out With Your Dock Out” stage, as conceptualized by Dan Johnson, uses 5 of the PolyDock Products 4’ x 10’ dock sections to create a 10’ x 20’ floating platform for the band to play on during each event. Dan chose the PolyDock Products dock sections for the stage in large part due to their:

Incredible Flotation Capacity – Each 4′ x 10′ section has a capacity of up to 2,625 pounds giving the stage a total flotational capacity of over 13,000 pounds. While we don’t recommend it, that is probably enough capacity to park the band’s tour van on without getting the wheels wet.

Superior Stability – Because when you’re rocking out with your dock out, the last thing you want to do is end up in the drink with your sound equipment.

Firm Slip Resistant Surface – The herringbone brick pattern looks great and features a shot peen finish so it’s slip-resistant and should keep your bass player on the stage and not in the water, even when they are channeling Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers during a moment of musical brilliance.

Extreme Durability – As Dan Johnson, and the crew that installs and removes the PolyDock Products “Rock Out With Your Dock Out” stage can attest to, the PolyDock floating dock system is incredibly durable and can withstand quite a bit of abuse and still look as good as a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard sounds.

The design that DJ’s Dock Service uses is really quite simple, easy to put together and could be modified to be larger or smaller depending on the event needs. To see a conceptual parts list click here.

What’s More Versatile Than A PolyDock Floating Dock System?

There aren’t a lot of products on the market that are more versatile than a PolyDock Floating Dock System. Well, maybe a Swiss Army Knife is more versatile than PolyDock, maybe.

We can only imagine that if you are reading this blog post, you already know at least a little bit about the wide range of modular floating dock sections, ShorePort drive-on personal watercraft storage platforms, and related accessories that make up the total list of products available from PolyDock Products. If you ended up here and you have no idea how you got here, we want to genuinely welcome you to this first post of the PolyDock Products Blog. We hate to admit it, but we’re also crossing our fingers that you or someone you know owns some waterfront property, and it would be a huge bonus if you are also in the market for a new dock system, or have recently purchased a PWC.

If you are in the first boat of people reading this, as in you already know a little bit about PolyDock Products, great, we hope that you’ll search our site, and subscribe to our blog to continue to learn even more. If you are in the boat with the second group of people reading this, we hope that the humble PolyDock Products website, along with this blog will be enough to encourage you to find your own little slice of waterfront heaven (heaven as in property), and install the PolyDock floating dock system of your dreams.

So where were we again? Oh yeah, what’s more versatile than a PolyDock Floating Dock System? Well, when it comes to floating docks, not much.

Aren’t all modular floating docks versatile?

If you’ve been researching modular floating docks, you’ve likely ran across the word “versatile” in reference to nearly every brand of floating dock on the market. In general, floating docks are one of the most versatile style of dock systems that you can purchase. That’s because floating docks generally fit a wide range of applications, are highly configurable, easy to install, easy to maintain, and are highly durable. Notice we said “generally”. That’s because not all floating docks fit within the concept of versatility. Think about traditional wooden floating docks, and some aluminum floating docks, they may fit a wide range of applications, but they may be difficult to assemble, install and maintain, they may be unstable, and they may not give you the dock layout options that you desire. Now think about other modular floating dock systems similar to PolyDock. Not all of them can say that they fit the complete concept of versatility either.

PolyDock Products, however, do fit all of the elements of a versatile dock system, and here’s why:

Wide Range of Applications
PolyDock floating dock systems are a great choice for residential installations, commercial marina systems, and municipal waterfront dock projects because of their superior stability, configurability, ease of installation, low maintenance requirements, and durability. This makes them a great choice for any waterfront property owner who wants or needs an attractive, stable floating dock system. Check out the applications page to learn more about Suitable Applications for PolyDock Products.

Superior Stability
<span “font-size:9.0pt;line-height:107%;=”” font-family:”arial”,”sans-serif”;mso-fareast-font-family:”times=”” roman”;=”” color:#29405f;mso-ansi-language:en-us;mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:=”” ar-sa”=””>The secret to PolyDock’s strength and stability is that the connectors allow the entire dock system to act in unison to reduce individual dock section movement due to waves. When you walk on a PolyDock floating dock system you’ll notice that the entire dock layout feels very firm and rigid. This rigidity creates PolyDock’s superior stability even in waves.

PolyDock is designed to be highly configurable. The full length connectors and modular sections allow you to create nearly any dock layout that you desire. Plus the dock system can be easily reconfigured later.

Easy Installation
Installing a PolyDock floating dock system is a super simple process. With easy to read instructions, and really minimal assembly, a typical dock system can be installed in less than a day by just a couple of people. Visit the PolyDock Products Instructions page and take a quick read through our PolyDock assembly and installation instructions and you’ll get a good idea of just how easy it is to install PolyDock and ShorePort.

Low Maintenance
All that’s required of PolyDock to keep it looking new is an occasional washing. Other maintenance items include easy tasks like inspecting and tightening connectors as necessary.

PolyDock are rotationally molded. This is the same process that is used to make whitewater kayaks, and even some boat hulls. This process ensures great consistency and durability of each PolyDock floating dock section. UV inhibitors, and a light tan color keep each section looking great for years. We’ve been manufacturing PolyDock and ShorePort since 1998 and you can still see many of those first dock sections and ShorePorts in use today.

Why should I choose a PolyDock floating dock system?

You should choose a PolyDock because it is one of the most versatile dock systems you can buy. If you need a floating dock system, you owe it to yourself to truly research the benefits and versatility of a PolyDock floating dock system before you buy any dock system. A floating dock system can be used nearly anywhere that a roll-in or standing style dock system can be used. They are perfect for a wide range of applications, offer superior stability, can be configured in nearly any layout imaginable, are super easy and affordable to install, offer low maintenance which reduces your total cost of ownership, and are a proven, time-tested, incredibly durable product offering you a great value in both initial purchase price and in total ownership satisfaction.

So, what’s more versatile, the PolyDock, or a Swiss Army Knife?

We’re going to go a little tongue-in-cheek here and say that the PolyDock beats the Swiss Army knife in terms of versatility. As proof, we offer you this list of things that a PolyDock or ShorPort can do that a Swiss Army knife cannot. Take a look at the list below, and then feel free to add your own suggestions or proof of PolyDock’s versatility, we’d love to hear your thoughts.

Things that PolyDock and / or ShorePort can do that a Swiss Army knife cannot do:

  • Offer you a stable platform that allows you to moor and access your boat or pontoon in navigable water depths.
  • Use as a marina to offer permanent and transient slip space for boaters.
  • Allow you to store, and operate a fleet of rental personal watercraft.
  • Offer enough stability and accessories to allow you to mount a bench or dock furniture to create an outdoor living space on the water.
  • Allow you to create a work platform for a number job specific applications.
  • Adjust to changing water depths to keep your entire dock system at the perfect height and freeboard.
  • Give you a great place to fish, swim, and relax on the water.
  • Use as a trail system around your property that allows you to cross ponds, streams and rivers.

Actually, we think the Swiss Army Knife is a pretty versatile tool, and while the Swiss Army knife probably cannot actually do the items listed above, it can probably help you do them. In fact, if the list were reversed, we wouldn’t have enough room to list all of the things that a Swiss Army can do.
